Fri 06:00PM HollyWeird Science

For science fiction productions, there is an implied bargain between the screenwriter and the audience: suspend your disbelief on one or two fantastic notions, and the rest of the story will be grounded in the believable. So the genre is predicated on the expectation of one or two key inaccuracies per story. In recent years, though, experts and fans have been nitpicking even the main story conceits of films like "Gravity", "Interstellar", and "The Martian". From the "anything goes" storytelling approach of the 1950's and 1960's sci-fi, our panelists explore whether or not the science accuracy pendulum of audience expectation has swung too far in the other direction.

Hey there, Choomba. The 4th Corporate War may be over, but that don’t mean things have got easy for us, yeah? That nuke that went off in Arasaka tower has thrown the whole ecosystem outta whack, the corps still hold the power, and the gang wars haven’t slowed a bit.

You and me, though? We’re gonna make it. We’re gonna do better than that. We’re gonna make a name for ourselves. We’re gonna be somebody. Maybe have a drink named after us down at the Afterlife after this is all said and done.

I mean we crawled outta the gutter. Got these nice apartments. Not sleeping in that shipping container no more, right? I got a feeling this is the start to something beautiful, and ain’t nobody gonna take that from us.
