Next order of business is to apply a zinc came frame mitered at a 45-degree angle at each corner. This adds stability to the window, nicely frames it out, and gives me a great place to apply a few hand-built curly Q hooks made from 16g pretinned copper wire.
Then it’s time for Patina.
Patina is a chemical formulated from nitric acid, copper sulfate pentahydrate, sodium chloride, and selenium dioxide – it’s VERY poisonous… wear gloves kiddies.
Now that all that shiny silver is gone, those colors really pop.
Now – we have to paint our illustrious leader, Brandy Bolgeo Hendren
Brandy – she’s a fine girl…
I painted her face… with a TOOTHPICK and enamel paint… I told Brandy she could auction off the toothpick if she wanted to HA.
It’s important to use quality tools for these things.
Ready for the big reveal???
I introduce to you, 73 Hours of my life….
Light My Fire
The great thing about stained glass, is you’re not only working with color and texture, but also with light. See the pic below to see what a difference light makes in how it shows out.
Thank you for taking this glassy journey with me.
You can see Light My Fire in the 2024 LibertyCon Art Show, on your t-shirts, program book, and even badges. I hope you’ve enjoyed taking this glassy journey with me. There’s a lot that goes into stained glass and I felt it was important that you come along for the ride. I can’t wait to see you at LibertyCon!
Be sure to check your schedules for Glassy Programming and our New Art Track Additions this year!
Stay Glassy!
